Unit 5,6,7 - Container and immigration
Context
for this unit we based the lessons on immigration. We were in a group and spoke about our families and how they immigrated to London.
my story was ... when I was 8 my mum came to the uk to start her career . she came because there was another child on the way and my dad was already living here. when I came here I didn't know any English and I learnt English within a year but not fluently though. it took me 3 years to learn it fluently.
Planning
Stanislavskis techniques helps us on stage by putting themselves in the place of the character.
i could use stanislavskis techniques technique to help me improve on my character jamal.
This week we worked on showing more emotion to my character jamal when he was accused of working with the agent . my character was offended and angry once told 'i know who i can trust' i showed anger by standing up , rising my voice, using big bold body language and using angry facial expression when saying:
"He's the one you shouldn't trust he's an agent , am a refugee you understand ? because thats an important difference. i know about agents this is my third time trying to get into this fucking country thats why i know so much about it . ok ok!"
In my day to day life I don't express anger very much so this was an interesting experience
UNIT 7 - PRODUCTION
Research:
Since Jemal was from Turkey we decided to do research on Turkish music . We chose this so it gives the audience a sense of where the character is from.
In the play i played the character Jemal. Jemals costume was a old, tattered jacket with a blue pair of jeans . All people that played Jemal would swap jackets when the scene changed so the audience knows who's playing who .

Planning
we were given a task to create a piece on immigration. we had to think of why people migrated to different countries and what could happen when they do migrate. In my group we done a piece on a man swimming across the sea and getting caught by border patrol .
we were reading a script called the container about people immigrating
to the uk and the characters have different attitude towards each other.
In lesson we worked in groups .
In my group i work with Cinzia , Dani, Shabir, Jorge , Nkechi.
were doing scene 2 and practicing our lines then we got up and acted it out .
then we all intertwined with the other group to start from the beginning
this week we have been rehearsing our play reading our script and trying to read off script and also practicing to be more of our character .
