Unit 1,2 and 3 - Introduction to performance and production

HOW? DEVISING Telling stories
Context                    1  (Yes and then )
We had to get into pairs and we would create a story using “yes and then” .
Me and my partner made a story we said...
me-“Let go to the park!”
partner-“yes and then we can go get ice cream!!”
me-“yes and then we can go to the cinema”

 Planning
               2 (one word story)
As a class we got into a circle, then going around the circle we had to say only one word to create a story and after we created a story we had to preform as a group their was two different groups to perform and we improvised it due to not enough time .

Research
3(improvise —“setting” THE MOON )
As a whole class we had to do a story where two actor/actress come up in a stage a create a story as you go and if one actor seems like they dont know what to say another actor/actress would come up to the stage and make a scene and we had to continue that as much as we can using our imagination and creativity make also make use of the stage space.
our starter was that we was on a enormous ship on the moon and and we improvised it .
——————————————-
   4(physicality )
What we did in physicality part of the lesson is when Rob gave us different words to do a freeze frame
and in our pairs we would think of a action to do that would suite that word.

(feedback of the preformances)

we were in groups and Rob put us in group and had us choose pictures to improvise and we did a short preformce of a woman who got her soul taken by the angel and the people In the villages heard her scream before she died and the people prayed respect in her funeral. After everyone showed their perforces Rob gave us feedback and what we can improve .
1)loud volume (head up)
2)use of space
3)changing form role to role
4)cheating the space (open it up )
5)be careful of dialogue

6)focus  energy  concentration.

 iDENTITY
My name is Ahmed G i am 16 years old and i am a black African, from Sudan .I moved to England in 2008 and i didn’t know any english so it was pretty hard for me to communicate with people, but over the years i started learning english and i started to communicate better with other people better

Identity to me  is the qualities, beliefs, personality, looks and/or expressions that make a person who he/she is .

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In our group we spoke about our play and what need to be changed and how we can improve it. We also made small changes to make it better and more dramatic .
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Robs lesson
•we worked with a partner amd its a trust activity where we had to colse our eyes and move around the room with direction of where you pranter takes you
•we all went on the back of the class and each of us had to speak loud so rob can hear us at the back off the classs

  • lesson 2
  • we are structuring everyone’s peaces of play together
  • -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In Robs lesson we had to rehears our play on identity and put in what we did in Mandy's lessons and stracure the pace together .

In the past 6 weeks we have been rehearsing  on the unit "IDENTITY" with Rob and Mandy . We have been improving our plays and working on  weak areas that need to be improved to make it better .We have done an evaluation with Rob about the performance and we asked each other in pairs about what we did good and what we need to improve. We started the term  on unit identity where we sat around together spoke what identity means to us.I wrote about what identity means  to me.identity to me means the qualities ,beliefs, personality, looks and or expressions that make a person who he or she is.In the play i played the character "Bailey"who new to the school and over his time in the school he was getting bullied by these two girls named Shiro and Kile . One day in the school before lesson bailey was stopped by Shiro and Klie and started to bully him and it continued through lesson until  a boy who has been seeing Bailey getting bullied advised him to tell the principal about it . Then Bailey over came his anxiousness and told the principal about the bullying. And the bullies apologise to him and tell him that they got their own problems them self. This comes back to what identity means to me in the part of personality where people are getting bullied by what type of a person they are.

voice projection -my role was shy person who was getting bullied so as i had not much to say i still needed to be heard by the audience.
use of space-In the play i had to use the stage as my character moves around in different scenes .
control-as the character Bailey i had good control of the falling on the ground as i got pushed by the bully.
confidence-my character was not confident to tell the teacher he was getting bullied

unit 2
context - how does production enhance the performance
the production further improves the quality of the performance by giving me an understanding of the what needs to be done in order to make the performance better.

Research -(
introduction)  I will be looking at sound engineering/audio engineering.
Sound engineers work on the technical part of sound engineering.
Sound/audio engineer also help to bring recording to live performances, clubs, party’s, movies and tv shows .
furthermore sound engineers assist producers and musicians to help them improve their work and build on what they done before so it sounds better and achieve in their careers.
On the other hand they are responsible for preparing an ideal studio environment.
there are different types of sound engineers such as monitor sound engineers they take care of the sound the performers hear on the stage. Another type of sound engineer is system engineers they insure the set up of the amps, complex PA system and speakers . studio sound engineers work on recording studio to make high quality recording of music .
the research and development audio engineers work to find new technologies, equipment and techniques to enhance the process .wireless microphone engineers are responsible for wireless microphones during a theatre production.

(sound engineer job consist)
The sound engineer job involve following the instruction and key information form directors and producers.the role also requires setting up and testing the sound equipment for filming , broadcasting and recording. Another part to the role is where by the sound engineer dose recording, editing and mixing audio tracks from instruments to vocal.
The sound engineer role is to improve the sound quality and add sound effects whilst recording. The sound engineer works with lots of different people such as lightning tech and camera men.

(skills required)
The skills required for sound engineers is that they need to be able to have good hearing for distinguishing sounds, furthermore they need to have good understanding of the pitch ,timing and rhythm .
Sound engineers will need to have had good understanding of electronics and acoustic .
They also need to have patience and the ability to handle long hours and meet tight deadlines .
Sound engineers will also need to have excellent communication skills so they can communicate with supervisors, other employees .
On the other hand sound engineer’s need to have good problem solving abilities . Sound engineers will need to know how to deal with signal flow this is where they need to locate with the problems are happening from instruments.

(who sound engineers work with )
Sound engineers work with producers and directors very closely.Regards to flim and tv, sound engineers generally add sound to images with editors and directors and other staff in the posy production team .they mostly work in the recording and post production studios and control rooms .

(how much they earn )
The sound engineers earn about £7-£20 per hour but it depends on what role and type of production.sound engineers annually rate is £17,342-£34,255 and thats yearly rate thats with experience of sound engineering .

(what are their duties)
Sound engineers duties are to record or reproduce sound using audio equipment.they also have to set up the audio for sporting events or artistic productions. On the other hand they make sure the microphone are working.sound engineers work out side the area to minimize environmental sounds that could possible interfere with broadcast or scene in the flim.sound engineers main duties are to make sure their equipments are working properly and clearly so it don’t interfere on the broadcast or scenes in a film.

(conclusion)
In conclusion , sound engineers work on the technical part of sound engineering . They also help producers and musicians improve their work to make it better. sound engineers are required to have good hearing for distinguishing sounds, furthermore they need to have good understanding of the pitch ,timing and rhythm . sound engineer job involve following the instruction and key information from directors and producers. They get paid hourly around £7-20 and their annually rate is £17,342-£34,255 with past experiences in sound engineering. They also make sure the microphone are working so theirs no issues on stage .sound engineers also work out side the area to minimize environmental sounds. They have a duties to record or reproduce sound using audio equipment.Regards to flim and tv, sound engineers generally add sound to images with editors and directors.

planning- my essay was planned by finding out small detail about the role and doing more further research .
