Unit 9 - UBU ROI


Context
 In lesson we had to do 3 actions. My first action is a  statue where we stood still. My second action was a statue whilst i was brushing my teeth. My third action was adding a sound and a gesture. the noise i made was a brush sound and my gesture was moving around my teeth with a brush. The fourth action was adding dialogue to the character to enhance the actions. my pharse  was “I'm fresh now!”

my  characters are barmpot, russkie king , banker 1 .from act 2 onwards. 
i was given characters i didn't like so i spoke to the teacher and she changed it for me.
i didn't like the characters because it didn't have much lines.
i understand nothing from this play :) because i don't understand 
the language and the contents the only way i would understand this play is by reading it in detail. 
students in our class come win late which then disrupts the learning and makes everything longer. 
i don't even know where my cue to come in the play
During rehearsals we wasted time reading the play and people kept having their characters changed and that wasted allot of our rehearsals time which we had only limited time to actually get up on our feet and practice with the lines. 

Research 

I played multiple characters in the play therefore,I had to adapt to different type of roles such as a Barmpot (soldier) who was one of dogpilles personal protecters and was afraid off Pa Ubu.
This contradicted the usual characteristics of a soldier who is meant to be strong willed and fearless.
Me and some class mates took a trip to central london to get a feel of royalty by witnessing the guards transfer between potrals. This helped me get a feel of my barmpot character as i can understand more about the barmpots of how they walk and acted towards people the same way as the guards did during their transfer.

I also played the character of a Nob, this was a comedic phrase because Nob can also be a derogatory term therefore suggested Pa ubu meant that he had no respect towards the people who worked for him. The barmpot characteristic included of posh personality and a feared attitude towards king ubu due to his high class status and the power to murder anyone he wanted (Pa UBU). I learnt many skills that the nob needed to be complete such as walking in a posh manner and having a feared response. I learnt these skills through watching cartoons as I believe that the nobs actions needed to be exaggerated just like a cartoon.

Pu ubu was interrogating the four Nobs. My character was the third Nob and for this character i had to be insulted by Pa ubu “what an ugly bastard you are” this derogatory term was the cue to show fear on my face and improve facial expressions and change my voice to sound frightened as I delivered my line “ Holder of Hanover Hale and Harrogate”. Portraying my character as fearful was an important rule as it showed the difference between other characters egos and mine meaning that I stood out.

In the same act as the Nob i switched to two different characters , my first character was : several lawyers . pu ubu says “lawyers first , then bankers” to whereas my character replies“objection! Nolle prosequi . status quo . which shows that i am being unwilling to pursue with what Pa ubu  is saying. This was a huge way of showing my skills as I would transition between a scared hopeless nob to a fighting for rights lawyer. I show this by raising my chest and shoulders making them broad to get the message across that the lawyers will not surrender.

Evaluation 


On the day of the preforming, the things that went well were . I was ready for the preformce.I memorised my line although i had thoughts of forgetting it .Another thing that went well was that  i had all the props that needed to play my characters. I felt neutral during the preforming in fornt of people and families which im used to but i get this feeling every time i preform. 
The things that didnt go well was that people were turning up late which cussed us to lose time on rehearsals this affcted me which coused me to go off track allot which got me confused .
 since i cant cope with things like this . Another thing that didnt go well was the techntion team kept messing up with black outs at wrong times , and wrong songs which annoyed me even more and slowed everything down. During rehearsal sinces my props were taken by my class mates  because they didnt have their own , this coused me to chase after them and i was up to go on staged without any prop this made me look silly and annoyed.
During my unit  the skills i accomplished were communication which on unit 8 i wrote as a weakness this was a weakness on unit 8 because I dont like talking to people this is because I sttuter allot . And I fell that i accomplished that because I am now not afraid to talk to people, the thing that helped me overcome this was Robs articulation lesson which we had to do different sound such as “she sells seashells on the sea shore” and “redlorry yellowlorry” . Another skill that i improved on was team work although there have been of people  arguing and stomimg out the class i feel that i have improved on my team work skills with my class mates because we got time to hang out with each other and got to know one other and we are comfortable and i can trust my class mates . I have very high standard punctuality this show how determined i am to learn  .
